When a file is removed, it is "disconnected" from the Project, but remains in the Repository.  The date it was removed and the identity of who removed it is saved.

A removed file retains all of its history.  If an earlier labeled version of the Project, that had included the file, is retrieved (Get), then the file will be retrieved.

A removed file can be reconnected to the Project by using the Restore function.

Phil

PowerVCS implements the SCC-API function to compare files by version number.  This substantially improves performance when refreshing status.  Rather than needing to compare files byte-by-byte, version comparison requires only looking at two short strings, one in the Repository and one in the PBL.

When using IE 8.0 check (set on) the "Compatibility View" in the Tools menu.  Without this setting some of the grid column headings do not display properly.

I received an error, "Error 2002. SccQueryInfoEx Callbacks=2 Should be 19" when refreshing the object status.  This error will occur in early versions of PB9 (which first implmented SccQueryInfoEx) and can be corrected by using a later release of PB9.  Alternatively you can set SccExtensions=0 in the pb.ini to disable the SccQueryInfoEx function.

As background SccQueryInfoEx is a function defined in the MS-Source Control API standard that allows source control providers to compare objects based on a version number, rather than a character-by-character source comparison.  This results in much faster functions like Refresh Status and Get Latest Version.
